Have you wondered what separates a bathroom singer from a professional performer

Have you wondered what separates a bathroom singer from a professional performer? It can be safely suggested that it's the professional's constant quest to learn how to sing better. If you also harboring dreams of a professional singing career you need to know that competition is rampant in this field and the only way to make it is to constantly evolve and better yourself as a singer. If you have always admired singers like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston; their finesse vocal range and quality, you should know that they did not become as good as they are over night. It must've taken them many hours of regular practice. So if you are also willing to put in the effort and hard work there is no reason why you shouldn't be as good as them. Here are a few tips that will help you along the way:

Always keep your vocal chords hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids at room temperature like water or warm tea with honey and fruit juices. But avoid drinks that contain dairy products and sugar. Also don't drink fluids that are too hot or too cold.

Warm up your voice everyday with the help of exercises and a musical instrument. If you don't have a musical instrument just sing a vowel sound like 'ah' increasing the pitch at each round and follow with other vowel sounds.

Proper Breathing techniques and breath control are essential to the vocal range of a singer. So to begin with keep your abs fit and toned. Since to sing better you will need to use diaphragmatic breathing well toned abs will help you to achieve higher notes.

Diligently practice breathing exercises that will help you to breathe by using the lower part of your lungs and your diaphragm.

Practice everyday or as often as you can., just like any other skill practicing your singing will make you sound better and increase your confidence. A good way to practice your vocal range is to start at the lowest scale and then work your way up to the highest range. Everyday add one more note to the highest scale. But if you ever feel that you cannot go any further it is important to not push your voice otherwise you may damage your vocal chords. Start again the next day and try to achieve the higher note.

Be careful with the shape of your mouth when you sing. Singing is about sounding good not necessarily about looking good. Many singers restrict the movement of their jaw when singing but you will never be able to develop a good vocal range unless you sing confidently with your mouth open.

Practice exercises that will help you to gain better breath control. This in turn will help you to increase your vocal range and control your voice. A good exercise is to take a deep breath with a yawn and exhale in short gasps accompanied by the 'ha' sound. So you take a deep breath and breath out in 'ha, ha, ha, ha, ha'. See if you still have any breath left if you don't you need to breathe in more deeply.

Singing with confidence is another important aspect of sounding good. But you will not sound confident if you hold your body too tight or too lose. Instead try to hold your chin, neck, shoulders and hands in the most natural and relaxed way. So always stand straight when you are singing with your feet apart at shoulder width, your shoulders held back and chin held in a relaxed manner.
